Inspired by James, Andreas, and Connie and their crazy level of activity, I’m attempting to get “back” into running. I put the “back” in quotes because the only time in my life that I ever ran regularly was when I was playing volleyball. We were required to be able run a at LEAST a 7-minute mile, and after struggling with it my first season, I decided to run 3 times a week before and during the season. I made my 7-minute mile with ease once I got started, but then I stopped playing volleyball except for the occasional picnic game and was dancing and playing softball instead.
Amazingly enough, there was no 7-minute mile requirement for softball and that sport actually required running & sprinting. Of course, we ran stairs all the time… god, I hated those bleachers…
Anyway, long story short, I’m going to try running again. This time with The Boy & Beans (what I’m calling the dog now) in tow. Surprisingly enough, they’re both THRILLED about the new routine.
I’m going to try and log our progress here. Please keep in mind that we’re easing into it as if we’re complete beginners and don’t expect to see me anywhere close to a track or 5K/10K/SpecialK race anytime soon.
